YANGON, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities exposed a total of 1,845 drug trafficking and related cases in Yangon region in 2018 alone, according to the report of Yangon Region Government's third year tenure on Wednesday.
About 2,987 suspects were charged in connection with the cases from January to December last year.
During the period, narcotic drugs including opium, heroin, stimulant drugs, ICE and others were seized in the region.
At present, the authorities are accelerating efforts to eradicate drug trafficking in the country.
The government has opened 26 drug rehabilitation centers nationwide with some 47 sub-centers as well as some 51 Methadone clinics established in high-drug-use townships, providing replacement therapy.
