LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Ten militants including a key commander were confirmed dead after the fighting aircraft targeted a Taliban gathering in Taliban bastion Musa Qala district of the southern Helmand province, provincial police department said in a statement released here Wednesday.
According to the statement, the air raids were conducted on Monday against a Taliban gathering in Landi Nawi area of Musa Qala district, killing 10 insurgents including notorious commander Atequllah, the military chief of the Taliban in Musa Qala and adjoining areas said.
Six more militants sustained injuries in the raids, the statement added.
Taliban militants who are in control of Musa Qala district over the past couple of years are yet to make a comment.
