WUHAN, China, June 12 (Xinhua) -- A parachute jump competition with 10 Chinese provincial teams participating kicked off on Wednesday here at Hannan General Aviation Airport, the skydiving base for the 7th Military World Games.
This four-day competition was a pre-test before the Games to evaluate and improve the facilities to meet the real match standards, according to the Executive Committee of the Games.
Authorities at the Committee said they would assess the overall results of the operation to ensure a smooth and successful competition in October.
318 young volunteers from local colleges were recruited to provide services throughout the process.
Located in the southwest of Wuhan, Hannan General Aviation Airport is one of China's leading airports, featuring a runway of 1,600 meters, the longest of China's domestic airports.
Hannan General Aviation Airport also boosts the local industries of general aviation and satellite, including new materials, intelligent manufacturing and emergency equipment.
