KABUL, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Four Taliban militants have given up fighting and surrendered to the government in Afghanistan's Ghor province on Wednesday, provincial governor Ghulam Nasir Khazeh said Thursday.
According to the official, the former militants have also handed over their weapons to local authority and vowed to defend the government against insurgents.
Welcoming the former militants, governor Khazeh also called upon the armed militants to follow the suit and give up fighting to help restore lasting peace in the province and eventually across the country.
Taliban outfit has not made comments on the report yet.
