TOKYO, July 5 (Xinhua) -- The 10-point consensus between Japan and China has set the direction for future bilateral relations and will push forward relations between the two countries, Japanese experts have told Xinhua.

During their meeting in Osaka, Japan, last week, the leaders of Japan and China reached the 10-point consensus on further improving and developing bilateral relations.

The consensus not only highlights the determination of the two countries to further develop their bilateral relations, but also shows the achievement of the efforts of the leaders and peoples of the two countries in developing bilateral relations, said Atsushi Kouketsu, a professor at Meiji university.

He said that he expects the two countries to further improve and develop bilateral relations, build closer interdependence and contribute to world development. China's Belt and Road Initiative is a vision to promote common development, and Japan should actively participate in it, he said.

Takashi Suzuki, an associate professor at Aichi Prefectural University, said that he expects the two countries to initiate bilateral relations that meet the requirements of the new era and explore more areas of cooperation.

Suzuki said that Japan and China can deepen cooperation in coping with the aging population and share achievements in technological innovation and mechanism innovation.

Currently, Japan-China relations are back on track and moving steadily toward the general direction set by both sides, said Samahiro Kohara, former Japanese consul general in Shanghai and a professor at Tokyo university.

Kohara said that the 10-point consensus reached by the two leaders is appreciable and that he looks forward to concrete actions. Japan and China should strive to achieve concrete results in cooperation in various fields, especially in the third market, so as to push bilateral relations to a higher level, he said.

With many unstable factors in the current world economic situation, Japan and China share the same aspiration and goal in maintaining globalization and the free trade system, said Xiong Dayun, a professor at Yamanashi Gakuin University.

Japan and China working together will not only bring tangible benefits to the two peoples, but also serve as an anchor for the economic development of Asia and the world at large, he said.

Seiichi Matsuo, president of Nagoya university, said that Japan and China have their respective strengths in issues such as environmental pollution, poverty and regional disputes the world currently faces.

Japan and China are both large countries, and building a cooperative relationship aimed at addressing global challenges will have a positive impact on the world, he said.

It is of great significance that the leaders of Japan and China agreed to cooperate closely in areas like economic and cultural exchanges against the background of increasing factors of instability in the world, said Kiyoyuki Seguchi, director of research at the Canon Institute for Global Studies, adding that he looks forward to greater progress in Japan-China relations in the future.
