Workers make sheets in Tongan Township of Zepu County, Kashgar, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Aug. 16, 2019. Once living in Kosirap Township in the remote area of Kunlun Mountains, 1,194 households were relocated to Tongan Township, 94 kilometers away from the original spot, in Aug. 2018. As a series of favorable measures were taken, the relocated town has gained access to power supply, better road conditions and health care. Furthermore, local authorities boost villagers' income by attracting investment and developing courtyard economy. By the end of 2019, a total of 160 thousand farmers and herders in the poverty-stricken areas will be relocated to new houses subsidized by government on plain or near oasis. (Xinhua/Ding Lei)
