BERLIN, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- RB Leipzig sees itself ahead of a crucial test when facing Bayern Munich this weekend.
"This game will tell us how far we got in our development," Leipzig captain Willi Orban commented after his team's best start to a season with three victories. The 26-year-old is convinced of his side's progress and announces full of confidence: "It is time for us to beat them."
The current league leaders, with two points more than Bayern, claim they haven't yet reached the same level as their Bavarian opponents, but are on the way to close the gap.
Leipzig striker Timo Werner spoke about a trendsetting duel which could decide about the 2019/2020 national title. "To win a game like that can take you through an entire season," the German international said, having scored five goals this season.
Leipzig's performers avoid speaking about a possible title despite being overwhelmingly praised by Bayern.
Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka said Leipzig's squad has the quality to win titles. Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge called the East-Germans an enrichment for the league and is expecting RB to play a significant role in Germany football over the coming years.
Confidence has been enhanced in the Saxony region despite the team's poor game record against the reigning German Champions in their last six league games (4 defeats, one win, and one draw).
At present Leipzig's supporters are eager to see if their heroes are already strong enough to beat the country's best side in the fourth round of matches. Fans are said to dream of the club's first title as the top game of the fourth round of matches will be broadcasted in over 100 countries.
Currently, Leipzig seems in the best possible shape after the new coach Julian Nagelsmann took over this season.
Their offensive potential is at its best as the side only needs four chances in average to score (9 goals in 3 games).
No other team has managed to create as many big chances.
Leipzig's game seems to have matured under Nagelsmann as the 32-year-old has increased ball possession figures to gain more control aside of the teams' pace.
Leipzig is the league's currently most efficient side in the first 45 minutes while Bayern has always scored more goals after half time.
Nagelsmann called Bayern completely different compared to all other teams. "When you have the feeling that you have got them for good with a 2-0 lead, they all of a sudden come back to life," the RB coach emphasized adding entirely focused 90 minutes will be required on the way to win a title.
His team seems to have understood his message.
Following the team captain's advice meanwhile seems more than a bold dream. "Try to neutralize Robert Lewandowski, stop Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman in one-to-one situations and show guts in front of the goal," Orban said adding: "We can only benefit from a game like that, the pressure is on Bayern's shoulders."
